The region of Grevena in northwestern Greece is entirely mountainous with lush forests and biodiversity. The 100% natural cultivation of chickpeas is a tradition in Grevena dating back to the 18th century. Local farmers cultivate their local varieties of chickpeas in the highlands at an altitude of 650 metres and even higher. The relatively warm and semi-dry climate of the region with little rainfall, the suitable soil type, the well-drained fields favour the production of quality chickpeas and add excellent features, such as delicious taste, colour and thin skin, which makes them easy to cook. “Arosis – Organic Greek Small Chickpeas from Grevena” are small in size and of yellow/brown colour. They have very thin skin so there is no need for peeling. Moreover, due to the fact that they keep their skin they are rich in dietary fibers.
